Friday, July 31, 2009 - Curse you, Karl Wells!

Some days are diamonds, some days are stones. Not that today was a stone, but let's just say it wasn't exactly a diamond, either.

The main issue was that we were duped by the Weatherman, who forecast a grey, rainy, and altogether unpleasant day. Perfect day for a trip to town for a movie and some shopping. The movie would satisfy Max and Marion's desire to see the latest Harry Potter, and the shopping would satisfy Joan and Jonathan, who have talked about little else since their arrival. I agreed to stay home with the boys to make room for all hands in one van.

Problem was, around 11:30am the skies cleared and it turned into just about the nicest day you could imagine. Hot, sunny, with a nice refreshing breeze off the water. The bulk of the group is trapped in a Mall, the boys and I stuck on The Point with no reliable vehicle to speak of. And the weather forecast for the next week is showing nothing but cloud and showers. [Sigh]

Anyway, we made the best of it. The boys and I took a chance in the truck, first to the playground and then to Rocky Pond for a dip.

The Townie travelers enjoyed their movies and bought some stuff (Joan wanted CDs and chose Thriller and the Dirty Dancing Soundtrack - an eighties girl!!) then salvaged the nice weather by picking up some pizza and heading to Cape Spear for a picnic. So all was not lost.

And in the end, Ed always comes out looking cool.
